Student Dress Code Policy

This dress code policy is enforced throughout the school year and during all summer educational programs.
 
YPA requires students to wear school uniforms, promoting positive connections among the school, the community, and families while ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all students.
 
Uniform Requirements

• Shirts: Solid black, gold, or white polo shirts.

• Pants & Bottoms:  Black or khaki trousers, shorts, skirts, or rompers. Skirts and shorts must fully cover the entire thigh.

 
Dress-Down" Day Guidelines
On designated dress-down days, students should maintain an appropriate and respectful appearance:

• Tops:  Shirts and tops must fully cover the back, torso, midriff, and cleavage. Indecent exposure, including visible undergarments or undergarment straps, is strictly prohibited.

Bottoms: Pants, shorts, and skirts must also adhere to appropriate length and coverage.

Outerwear & Headwear

• Outerwear Storage: During the school day, students must store all outerwear (coats, heavy jackets, scarves, and gloves) in their designated cubbies, lockers, or hooks.

• Head Coverings: Baseball caps, hats, bandanas, hoods, and other non-religious head coverings are not permitted inside the building.

• Sunglasses: Sunglasses are for outdoor use only and may not be worn on students' faces or heads during the school day.

 

Footwear & Safety

Students must wear proper, safe footwear at all times. House slippers, flip-flops, sliding sandals, wearing only socks, or going barefoot are considered unsafe and are not permitted in the learning environment.

 

Tattoos and Affiliations

While on school grounds or participating in school-related events, all gang-affiliated, crew-related, or block-related tattoos, markings, and imagery must be completely covered.

 

Religious Exemptions

Requests for exemptions from the dress code based on religious beliefs must be submitted in writing to the Principal. The request should include an explanation of why the religious belief prevents compliance with the standard dress code. Where practicable, these requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
